Increase or maintain an existing Professional Degree Supplemental Tuition rate

Proposals for the 2024-25 Academic Year

UCOP released the call for proposals from programs that charge Professional Degree Supplemental Tuition (PDST) with expiring multi-year plans, or from programs that wish to establish a PDST charge for a new or existing program effective beginning summer or fall 2024.

The following programs must submit a new multi-year plan if they intend to continue charging PDST in summer or fall 2024:

  • Educational Leadership (EdD)
  • Law (JD)
  • Public Policy (MPP)
  • Social Welfare
  • Medicine (Joint Medical Program)
  • Public Health (MPH / DrPH)
  • Translational Medicine
  • Business (MBA)
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Information Management
  • Statistics
  • Environmental Design

Important

Programs that expect to charge the same PDST rate in 2024-25 as they are charging in 2023-24 may request a one-year extension of their current plan and do not need to submit a new multi-year plan this year.

Please email studentfees@berkeley.edu for more information about this option.

Deadlines

Because of the high volume of proposals being reviewed this cycle, programs have been split into three groups with different submission deadlines.

For programs reviewed at the January and March Regents meetings, the deadline to submit proposals for campus review will be late September.

For programs reviewed at the May Regents meeting, the deadline to submit proposals for campus review will be early December.

January Regents Meeting

The following programs will be reviewed at the January Regents meeting:

  • Educational Leadership (EdD)
  • Law (JD)
  • Public Policy (MPP)
  • Social Welfare

March Regents Meeting

The following programs will be reviewed at the March Regents meeting:

  • Medicine (Joint Medical Program)
  • Public Health (MPH / DrPH)
  • Translational Medicine

May Regents Meeting

The following programs will be reviewed at the May Regents meeting:

  • Business (MBA)
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • Information Management
  • Statistics
  • Environmental Design

Final campus submission deadlines for existing PDST-charging programs will be announced shortly, but please be aware that campus deadlines will be earlier than in past years due to an accelerated deadline from UCOP.

Programs with Previously Approved Multi-year Plans

UCOP has asked that all programs with previously approved multi-year plans either:

  • confirm that they intend to charge the maximum approved PDST rate; or
  • request UCOP approval to charge a rate lower than was approved

Please email studentfees@berkeley.edu confirming your proposed 2024-25 charges by Friday, November 3, 2023.
