Eligibility
All academic units with graduate professional degree programs (including self-supporting degree programs) are eligible to propose a new Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) deposit or to modify an existing SIR deposit for the admission cycle following the proposal year (i.e., an SIR deposit request submitted in 2025-26 can begin with the cohort admitted, at earliest, Fall 2026).

Submitting Proposals for FY2026-27
Programs interested in proposing a new SIR deposit or modifying an existing SIR deposit should work with their department chair, Divisional Finance Leader (DFL), or dean to draft a letter addressed to the Chancellor making their request.

Deadline
Proposals are due to studentfees@berkeley.edu by Friday, September 19, 2025.
Approvals
Requests to establish new SIR deposits, or to increase an existing deposit beyond the approved maximum, must be approved by the Chancellor and the UC Office of the President.
Requests to increase or decrease existing SIR deposits must be approved by the Chancellor.

Submission Timeline
Late August
Call for proposals and instructions sent to DFLs, published in DFL Weekly, and on CFO website.
Mid September
Proposals due to FP&A for initial review.
Late September
Proposals reviewed and returned to programs for revision as needed.
Early October
Proposals are submitted to the Chancellor's Office for review.
Late October
Chancellor finalizes decisions on requests to modify existing deposits. Program teams and relevant stakeholders are notified.
Chancellor makes recommendations to the UC Office of the President to establish new deposits, or to increase deposits beyond the approved maximum.
January or February
UCOP finalizes decisions on requests to establish new deposits or to increase deposits beyond the approved maximum. Program teams and relevant stakeholders are notified.
