VCF/VCA portfolio and department assignments confirmed

December 4, 2017

Dear members of the campus community:

You may recall earlier this year we announced that our campus would be better served if the portfolio of the former Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance was separated into two: one focused on financial issues and one focused on administrative issues. At that time, Rosemarie Rae was elevated to the role of Vice Chancellor of Finance and Chief Financial Officer while this September, Marc Fisher joined us from UC Santa Barbara to become Berkeley’s Vice Chancellor of Administration.

We asked Vice Chancellors Rae and Fisher to collaborate on how to assign their portfolios with the goal of creating the most effective organizational structure to move forward on our campus priorities. We are pleased to share their structure below:

The Vice Chancellor of Finance’s portfolio now includes:

  • Capital Strategies
    • Capital Projects
    • Physical and Environmental Planning
    • Real Estate Development
    • Third Party Leasing

  • Controller's Office
    • Accounting & Controls
    • Contracts & Grants
    • Financial Operations
    • Payroll

  • Financial Planning & Analysis
    • Campus Budget Office
    • Finance Policy & Institutional Research
    • Financing & Capital Asset Strategies
  • University Partnership Program

The Vice Chancellor of Administration’s portfolio now includes:

  • Business Contracts & Brand Protection
  • Campus Shared Services
  • Facilities Services
  • Human Resources
  • Information Services & Technology
  • Inspection Services
  • International House
  • Library Bindery Services
  • Office of Sustainability
  • Parking & Transportation Services
  • Property Management
  • Supply Chain Management
  • UC Police Department

New organizational charts reflecting these department assignments are being developed and will be posted on university websites shortly. We are confident this new organizational structure will enable us to address challenges and leverage opportunities effectively and successfully in the coming years.

Sincerely,

Paul Alivisatos
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
