This message was sent to all staff.
We have good news to share with you regarding two popular staff programs that were hit hard by budgetary issues brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. Both the Sponsored Tuition through University Extension and Spot Award programs will be available to you again, effective March 1.
In order to do this, we have partially reallocated this year’s funding from our STAR Award recognition program, keeping the Spot Awards (up to $500 per), but eliminating the Achievement Awards (over $2,000 per). This one-time re-allocation also enables us to support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) and anti-racism efforts on campus, a top priority for us. Managers, please note that funds for Spot awards should reach units within the next few weeks.
We hope you will take advantage of these opportunities for recognition, education, development and community, and are as excited as we are in being able to bring them back. We would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and healthy Lunar New Year!
