Statement from UC President Napolitano on Public Education Facilities Bond

University of California President Janet Napolitano issued the following statement today (September 14):

The University of California is pleased the recently approved Public Education Facilities Bond will be on the March 2020 ballot and deeply appreciates the $2 billion that the measure allocates to UC, which sets the stage for the biggest capital investment in the University since 2006.

Chancellor Carol Christ sent a message to the UC Berkeley community on Wednesday about an ongoing seismic assessment of the roughly 600 buildings owned or occupied by the university.

What’s happening?

Berkeley is in the middle of conducting seismic evaluations of the more than 600 buildings on campus. These evaluations are part of a coordinated effort by the UC Office of the President to assess the seismic safety of all buildings across the 10-campus system using new standards.

Bisnow has honored UC Berkeley’s Vice Chancellor of Finance Rosemarie Rae with a Bay Area Power Women award. This award celebrates Bay Area Power Women who have helped shape Bay Area cities, neighborhoods, businesses and lifestyles. Fellow honorees included Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and Jackie Safier of Prometheus, among others. The winners were honored on May 30 at Bisnow's Bay Area Power Women award ceremony at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco.

As a result of the UCPath implementation, there will be changes affecting the general ledger.

The last PPS pay journal transmitted to the general ledger will be for the bi-weekly pay period ending March 9th. All subsequent pay journals will be coming from UCPath. We've listed the changes we've identified so far, along with recommended actions for you to take below.

CalPlanning Community,

The implementation of UCPath, the new UC-wide system for payroll, personnel, HR and benefits, is taking place during March.

During UCPath implementation, CalPlanning will continue to be available as usual. No changes to the CalPlan environment will take place until after the divisions finish entering their plans (budget submissions are due in CalPlan on Friday, March 22) and after the Financial Planning & Analysis team reviews those submissions.

Cal Answers Financials and BAIRS Community,

Now that we’ve completed all the releases necessary to transition from BAIRS to Cal Answers, we’re working on incorporating your feedback on Cal Answers and implementing some upgrades to the system. The Cal Answers upgrade will be released in February and will improve the user experience by providing the ability to copy data directly out of Cal Answers reports and enabling users to create and reuse custom columns.
