Faculty Startup and Retention
When offer letters are signed and the Faculty Start-up or Retention package are approved by the Vice Provost or EVCP. Divisions can request the funding via the Commitment Queue Request Form (access required) and submit all relevant documents as needed as listed below:
Faculty Startup
For conforming packages:
- Offer Letter
- Budget Worksheet
For non-conforming packages:
- Offer Letter
- Budget Worksheet
- Approval Documentation (emails, commitment letters, etc.) from Vice Provost or EVCP
Faculty Retention
- Retention Offer Letter
- Budget Worksheet

Active Service Modified Duties Funding
Active services modified duties funding (ASMD) can be reimbursed via commitment requests quarterly.
Please refer to the Active Service Modified Duties for Senate Faculty with a new child page for APO's policy.
Please submit the following documentations along with the commitment request:
- UCPath entries for ASMD (leave begin dates and end dates)
- ASMD workload plan with dean approval

Pathway to Retirement Funding
The management of funding allocations for the Pathway to Retirement program has been transferred to the Academic Personnel Office (APO). Please submit divisional requests for central funding to Yasya Goretsky at yasyavg@berkeley.edu
Please be sure to include a copy of the signed Pathway to Retirement Agreement, and supporting documentation identifying the course(s) taught, semester, instructor(s), and GL detail when relevant. This documentation should be provided from campus-based systems, such as the Berkeley Academic Guide (course catalog) and Cal Answers.
