Sierra magazine recently released their "Cool Schools 2017" list, which ranks colleges and universities with a commitment to sustainability. Sierra magazine (the national magazine of the Sierra Club) partners with the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education to complete the annual survey. Participating schools submit information on their environmental practices; including sustainability events, water and waste management, energy consumption, etc. This year UC Berkeley ranked 27 out of 227 schools and scored high in sustainable transportation (ranking 9th) and water (ranking 14th).
