Cal Answers Financials and BAIRS Community,
Now that we’ve completed all the releases necessary to transition from BAIRS to Cal Answers, we’re working on incorporating your feedback on Cal Answers and implementing some upgrades to the system. The Cal Answers upgrade will be released in February and will improve the user experience by providing the ability to copy data directly out of Cal Answers reports and enabling users to create and reuse custom columns.

Cal Answers and HR BAIRS Community,
We are pleased to announce the Cal Answers Campus Workforce (HR) dashboards are now live. The Cal Answers team partnered with Human Resources professionals from central and campus units to develop dashboards to replace the HR reporting currently in BAIRS, which is being retired in December.

Before joining UC Berkeley, Chris was Associate Vice Chancellor/Associate Provost of Institutional Planning and Analysis for the University of Houston, where he was responsible for all aspects of institutional planning, performance measurement, policy analysis, academic data management/reporting, accreditation, and program evaluation -- highlights include:

You asked and we heard you! We’re excited to announce that the CalPlan Forecast Working is actualized. When you log in, the Forecast Working will contain Actual data for closed months for everything but compensation. Compensation is coming in February 2018. Information about the project, including monthly updates, is available on the Actualized Forecast & Simplified HCP project page on the VC Finance website.

You may recall earlier this year we announced that our campus would be better served if the portfolio of the former Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance was separated into two: one focused on financial issues and one focused on administrative issues. At that time, Rosemarie Rae was elevated to the role of Vice Chancellor of Finance and Chief Financial Officer while this September, Marc Fisher joined us from UC Santa Barbara to become Berkeley’s Vice Chancellor of Administration.
On Monday, June 26 Chancellor-Designate Carol Christ sent the campus an update on the FY2017-18 budget process. She announced she has completed making the annual budget decisions, and divisions (schools, colleges, administrative units) have received their allocation letters.
Cal Answers is now available with student data pulled from the SIS Campus Solutions database. The change in the source of the data should not greatly impact your work; however, there are a few changes Student Data dashboard users should be aware of.
If you use the Cal Answers Student Data dashboards, please review the information below and take the following actions to ensure you're retrieving correct data about your unit.
