UC Berkeley is among the most environmentally responsible colleges, according to a new Princeton Review survey of some 413 American colleges and universities.
The survey found that Berkeley was the number 14 greenest college in the country, and the top University of California honored, with UC Merced coming in at number 20.

University of California President Janet Napolitano issued the following statement today (September 14):
Chancellor Carol Christ sent a message to the UC Berkeley community on Wednesday about an ongoing seismic assessment of the roughly 600 buildings owned or occupied by the university.
Berkeley is in the middle of conducting seismic evaluations of the more than 600 buildings on campus. These evaluations are part of a coordinated effort by the UC Office of the President to assess the seismic safety of all buildings across the 10-campus system using new standards.

UC Berkeley’s self-described “storyteller-in-chief” took her role to heart this week, reminding an audience of campus communicators that, “We are a story-telling species, and we are always writing history in the strands of the present.”
Bisnow has honored UC Berkeley’s Vice Chancellor of Finance Rosemarie Rae with a Bay Area Power Women award. This award celebrates Bay Area Power Women who have helped shape Bay Area cities, neighborhoods, businesses and lifestyles. Fellow honorees included Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and Jackie Safier of Prometheus, among others. The winners were honored on May 30 at Bisnow's Bay Area Power Women award ceremony at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco.
